Welcome to a safer Derbyshire
Compared to other areas of the country Derbyshire has low levels of crime, but surveys have shown community safety to be a top priority for people living in the county.
Safer Derbyshire is a multi-agency partnership based at County Hall, Matlock. Our aim is to reduce crime, disorder and the fear of crime in Derbyshire by providing support, advice and leadership to our partners and communities.
The agencies involved include Derbyshire County Council departments and the Community Safety Unit, Research and Information Team, Derbyshire Drug and Alcohol Action Team, Derbyshire Youth Offending Service, Derbyshire Constabulary, Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service, Derbyshire Probation Trust and the Local Criminal Justice Board. At a local level we work withCommunity Safety Partnerships which are multi-agency partnership’s based in district/borough areas.
We are committed to working together to reduce crime and maintain quality of life for people who live, work and visit Derbyshire.
From November 2012 a newly elected Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) will play an important role in relation to community safety and policing in Derbyshire.
You can read all about how we’re working to improve life for local people in the new edition of the Safer Derbyshire magazine out now.
In order for decisions to be made, there is a Derbyshire Safer Communities Board.
